BUCYRUS—What started out as a normal day for Jacob Irwin turned out to be anything but that after he and his friend were involved in a crash at the intersection of Ohio 98 and Beechgrove Road on Monday morning.
“CJ and I were in my car traveling towards Bucyrus going 55 to 56 miles per hour when a truck stopped at the stop sign on Beechgrove Road then proceeded to come into the intersection. I slammed on my brakes and tried to stop but could not do it in time and we collided,” said Irwin.
He said his vehicle went off the roadway into a ditch.
Irwin said that he and his friend, CJ Higginbotham, were taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital by Portsmouth Ambulance for treatment of minor injuries and were later released.
“We were checked out but we don’t have any serious injuries but we are both pretty sore. CJ’s leg hurts, along with his chest, and my head, left knuckles, and elbow hurt but for the most part, we are okay,” said Irwin.
He said the other driver was issued a citation but the name of the other driver and other details have not yet been released by the Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
