The Crestline Village Council agreed to begin planning stages for the construction of wastewater facilities Monday night.
Council unanimously agreed to authorize Village Administrator Marc Milliron to enter planning stages for the Bibich/Patterson Street Sewer Project. Milliron will apply for loans through the Water Pollution Control Loan Fund on behalf of Crestline for the planning, design, and or construction of the facilities. The resolution passed in emergency, also designated a cap of $33,000 for the planning stage of the project.
Milliron said that the planning stages for the project would pick off where the village had left off.
Village Council unanimously passed hiring Corey Grant, Scott Eschelman and Mark Callicoat as full-time probationary police officers.
At the end of the council meeting Councilman Mike Blaising asked Police Chief Joe Butler why the department hasn’t hired a captain, or a detective.
Butler explained that he had talked with Milliron and tried to fill the position once before, but that finances had hindered the search.
“As soon as I can find a candidate willing to come to Crestline I will hire them,” Butler said.
Mike Schiefer introduced himself to council Monday night as a candidate for county commissioner. Schiefer, who is running against incumbent Jenny Vermillion, explained that he is running on a zero tolerance policy against narcotics platform.
Mayor Dave Sharrock announced that the men’s softball tournament to benefit the Wounded Warriors Project will be held on May 3, 2014 at Galion East Park in Galion, Ohio. Cost is $100 per team. Those with questions or donations should contact J.J. Taylor at 419-689-0600.
The next Crestline Village Council meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. on April 28.
