Regardless of how long winter weather and high heating bills hang around, there are only two weeks left to apply for the 2013-2014 Winter Crisis Program known as HEAP.
This program provides a one-time payment for those who qualify and is being administered locally by the Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission. That payment is towards a utility bill or bulk fuel service bill. Program eligibility is based on household income. Other requirements include that the applicant’s utility service has been disconnected or is in disconnection status; or a bulk supply of fuel is at 25 percent or less of capacity.
Appointments can be made by calling 1-866-861-6421. Walk-in appointments at the Community Action Commission will be served on a first come, first served basis.
Ohio Heartland Community Action Commission serves Crawford, Marion and Morrow counties.
