The Bucyrus Health and Safety Committee met Monday evening to discuss a liquor permit for Normans Niche. Natalie and Jeff Norman have requested a D5 liquor license for their new business.

Normans Niche will sell wine and offer wine tastings. The Normans intend to have their business open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The business will also serve prepackaged food as per the D5 permit.

Without any objections from Police Chief Dave Koepke, the Health and Safety Committee voted to approve the permit and will seek legislation.

The Platting Committee met shortly after to discuss an Ohio Department of Transportation program that would inspect bridges in the municipality and the county. Service/Safety Director Jeff Wagner said he had been approached by ODOT, which offered to inspect the bridges for free for three years.

The city previously had the inspections done by the county. Wagner was unsure whether ODOT would continue the deal after the three-year period.

The Platting Committee voted to move ahead with the program.
