A Certified Nurse Practitioner (CNP) is a registered nurse (RN) who has completed advanced education (a minimum of a master’s degree) and training in the diagnosis and management of both acute and chronic illnesses. CNPs provide a broad range of healthcare services and maintain close working relationships with physicians. CNPs spend quality time with patients with an effort to learn which treatment options are best for them. CNPs often serve as a patient’s regular healthcare provider.
