BUCYRUS — A Marion man still is at-large after a manhunt involving multiple agencies Saturday, Feb. 23.

According to Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey, 35-year-old Dereck Hensley fled from law enforcement in Marion County when an attempt was made to serve a warrant for domestic violence.

Hensley was sentenced to three years in the Richland Correction Institution on a third-degree felony charge for domestic violence in Crawford County. His actual release date is listed as Dec. 12 by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction.

Hensley fled and crossed into Crawford County on Ohio 4.

Bailey said he then requested the assistance of the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office.

Hensley then, reportedly, pulled into Heritage Circle on the south end of Bucyrus where he abandoned his vehicle.

The car driven by Dereck Hensley was parked and abandoned at Heritage Circle in Bucyrus.

Bailey said he then requested a K-9 unit from the Bucyrus Police Department.

After a search of the area, Hensley was not located.

According to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Hensley “should be considered dangerous and possibly armed.”

Bailey said anyone who sees Hensley, or knows of his whereabouts, should contact local law enforcement.
