A warning light in a medical helicopter en route from the Cleveland Clinic to a hospital in Richland County forced it to land Friday night at Port Bucyrus-Crawford County Airport.

A dispatcher for the Bucyrus Police Department said they responded in support of the Bucyrus Fire Department to the situation which received a call shortly after 10 p.m. Although a warning indicator showed a fire in the cockpit, there was no fire according to a later report.

The helicopter was not carrying a passenger at the time it was forced to land in Bucyrus and there were no injuries according to the Bucyrus police dispatcher.

Chad Schwemley of the Bucyrus Fire Department said that according to a report that was filed there was significant damage to the engine and that the responding unit was asked to provide lighting on the helicopter.
