Bucyrus Elementary School will welcome children’s author Greg Tang. Tang is described as an insightful, passionate and entertaining author and presenter.
Tang will spend time with the Elementary students during the morning of March 11. Later that evening, he will conduct a Parent Workshop during the annual Right to Read Week Family Night at the Elementary School from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The workshop is designed to inspire and empower parents to help their children with reading and math.
According to librarian Diane Kaple, Tang was selected as this year’s author, “because he was highly recommended and the Right to Read committee thought he would be a good fit for all grade levels.”
“Our Right to Read theme, ‘The BEST of Times’, is based on Greg’s book of the same name,” Kaple said. “We are excited that he will not only spend time with our students, but that Greg is willing to spend time with parents to help them and give them ideas for helping their children.”
In addition to the March 11 author visit, students and their families will have the opportunity to participate in a Book Fair March 10 through March 14. All proceeds from purchases made during the week will support the Elementary School Library.
Additionally, funding for the Family Night and Author Visit has been made possible by the support of the Bucyrus Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO).
“Our PTO does a terrific job supporting the teachers and students in our building,” Kaple said. “I am grateful for their funding of this event, and want to personally thank them for their unwavering support in educating the children in Bucyrus.”
