GALION — Galion City Council met Tuesday evening to discuss several ordinances. Of those ordinances, council spent the most time on Ordinance No. 2019-5.
This ordinance calls for the rezoning of an area in the southeast quadrant of Galion, specifically in the area between Murray Street and Ohio 19 and Smith Street to Dawsett Avenue. The zoning would change the area from a mobile home residential district to a single family residential district.
This means that in the future, any homes put in the area must be built on a foundation. A resident who already lives in the area in a mobile home, would be grandfathered in and allowed to keep their mobile home.
The minimum lot area must be 5,000 square feet, with 45 feet of lot width, and 20 feet minimum for a front yard. Any garages on the property must be in the backyard.
For this to happen, council must host a public hearing on the ordinance once the files have been available to the public for at least 30 days before the hearing.
