BUCYRUS — A fundraiser by the Colonel Crawford Women’s Auxiliary of the American Legion Post 181, in Bucyrus has been postponed from this Saturday due to the possibility of a snowstorm this weekend.
According to Tami Tima, of the auxiliary unit, the Make and Bake Sale will be Saturday, Jan. 26 at 4:30 p.m. instead of Jan. 19.
“We moved it because of the snowstorm that is currently in the forecast,” Tima said. “We want it to be successful for this year’s recipient.”
The fundraiser occurs each year to benefit a local person in need, and this year, the organization will give all proceeds from the event to Grayson Nash, a 2-year-old Bucyrus boy in need of a service dog.

Grayson suffers from autism and his mother, Shanna Nash, is working diligently to raise the $6,000 needed for the dog.
“So far we have raised about $1,000. I really hope this benefit makes a dent in what I owe,” said Shanna, who has hosted fundraisers of her own along with a GoFundMe account that has been set up by her sister.
Dale Thompson, owner and trainer of Pound to Service Dogs (PtSD) in Richland County, is currently training Jackson, a Labradoodle he adopted from the shelter in Upper Sandusky, for Grayson.
“The dog will be Grayson’s companion,” Thompson previously said. “He is being trained to alert if Grayson starts to wander off, keep him calm when he begins to get upset. He will constantly be with Grayson to keep him safe.”
Nash is extremely grateful to the auxiliary unit of the American Legion and to the community.
“I am truly grateful for every dollar donated. I’m grateful for every prayer sent our way. Over all I am just plain grateful for all the help in all areas,” Nash said.
Tima said the event is a make and bake which means donations may include baked goods or arts and crafts such as Afghans and wooden shelves.
“Anything that someone wants to make or bake to donate to our sale is welcome. Items can be dropped off at my office or at the American Legion,” Tima said.
The American Legion is located at 123 E. Rensselaer St., in Bucyrus and Tima’s office is located at 116 W. Perry St., Bucyrus.
