James R. “Jim” Wise, 77, of Galion passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Galion Hospital.

He was born February 16, 1941 in Wyandot, Ohio and was the son of Ralph and Eva (Clark) Wise. Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Karen E. (Ross) Wise, whom he married on November 2, 1970.

He was a 1959 graduate of Mt. Zion High School and had worked in the Parts Department at the former Peabody and lastly McClain Industries in Galion. Jim was a member of the AMVETS Polk Township Post 1979 of Galion. He loved all sports, especially football, baseball, basketball and bowling. Jim coached Little League for several years and participated in several bowling leagues, bowling a perfect 300 game.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Scott (Dawn) Wise of Saline, Michigan and Todd (Jen) of Glen Carbon, Illinois; five grandchildren Brandon, Jackson, Cameron, Charlotte and Beckett; brother John Wise and sisters Mary Frost, Rachel Meade and Stoyna Louis and mother-in-law, Irene Ross of Bucyrus.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Marge Poe and Miriam Zimmerman and two brothers, Thomas Louis and Richard Wise.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 10 with Rev. Joe Stafford officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Galion.
