During Wednesday night’s Crawford County Senior Fair Board meeting a possible change to the starting date of the 2015 Crawford County Fair was discussed.

The move to propose that the fair be moved from the second full week of July to the third week of June passed with a 13-7 vote. One of the main justifications for the move is that the fair usually falls during the hottest time of the year. Other factors as to when a fair can be run such as not overlapping surrounding area fairs and other annual events that occur on the fairgrounds will be investigated before a final vote is made on the matter at the upcoming March 26 meeting.

Steve Nace Racing has a date set for the Crawford County Fairgrounds with choices of May 10, 17, and June 7. The Fair Board approved of the May 17 date for the flat track motorcycle race with a May 18 makeup date in case of bad weather.

More entertainment options were discussed for the 2014 edition of the Crawford County Fair. The Fair Board approved hiring Steel Creek to play Friday, July 18 in the park, as well as Sonic Sound D.J. for Saturday, July 19.

Honest Abe will be making an appearance at this year’s county fair as well. An Abraham Lincoln impersonator will be at the fair on the Veterans’ Day at the fair from 2 to 8 p.m.

The Junior Fair Board announced it will use a dummy trophy during contests at the 2014 installment of the Crawford County Fair. Real trophies will be handed out to winners once the winner turns in a thank you note to those who donated the trophies.

The Fair Board approved hosting the Liberty Leaders 5K Run during fair week. The race which will start and end on the track will be on July 13 with $15 preregistration and $20 for day of the race registration. Participants will receive T-shirts as well as free admission into the fair.

The next Crawford County Fair Board meeting will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 26.
