BUCYRUS — Firefighters responded to a multi-unit apartment fire that resulted in one man being transported to the hospital.
The fire broke out Wednesday just after 6 p.m., at 1123 E. Mansfield St., and appeared to have started on the first floor at the rear of the building.
Bucyrus Fire Department Lt. Greg Hershey said a man was taken to Bucyrus Community Hospital with unknown injuries. Unconfirmed reports were that the victim later was transported by medical helicopter.
Firefighters battled the blaze in near-freezing temperatures for more than an hour.
The cause of the fire currently is under investigation.
Bucyrus Police Department, Portsmouth Emergency Ambulance Service, AEP Ohio and the American Red Cross also responded to the scene.
