CRESTLINE — Two people were transported after a head-on crash caused multiple injuries Wednesday morning.

Just before 8:30 a.m. emergency crews were dispatched to the intersection of Ohio 96 and Baker 47 Road west of Shelby.

According to a male victim, who was driving a black Ford Fiesta involved in the crash, he was driving eastbound on Ohio 96 toward Shelby when a  gray Lincoln MKZ driven by a female driver was driving southbound on Baker 47 Road and failed to yield at a stop sign, striking the male’s vehicle.

The impact sent both vehicles eastward on Ohio 96 and into a ditch.

The victims were transported to Shelby Hospital for non-threatening injuries, according to a member of Life Support Team EMS.

Crawford County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jeremy McCraken said initial investigation findings agreed with the statement by the male victim.

According to Tiro-Auburn Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tim Hamman, the JAWS unit had to be used to free the male victim from his vehicle.

Identifying information was not able to be released at the time of publication.

Knecht’s Towing removed the vehicles from the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
