GALION―A domestic dispute on Saturday led to the activation of the Crawford County Response Team and the arrest of a Galion man on Sunday.

According to Galion Police Chief Brian Saterfield, his officers responded to a domestic dispute at 330 Orange St., at 10:02 a.m. on Saturday.

“Upon investigation, we learned that 45-year-old Matthew B. Norman had threatened his live-in girlfriend and discharged a shotgun on the property. Mr. Norman had left the scene prior to our arrival,” Saterfield said.

On Sunday afternoon, the officers received information that Norman was back at the residence.

“Based upon facts obtained during the investigation, we made the determination to activate the Crawford County Special Response Team to attempt the apprehension of Norman. The SRT team approached the residence and Norman voluntarily surrendered to law enforcement,” said Saterfield.

Norman was arrested on charges of domestic violence and discharging a firearm within the city limits. He is being held at the Crawford County Justice Center.

The case will also be forwarded to the Crawford County Prosecutor for review of any additional charges.

“Once again, county-wide cooperation among law enforcement led to the peaceful resolution of this incident,” said Saterfield.
