Tiffin, OH— Dr. James Padilla has been named Dean of TU’s School of Business, according to Paul Marion, President.

“Dr. Padilla has been an excellent faculty member,” said Dr. Marion, “and I am confident that he will continue the positive momentum that has been established in our School of Business in recent years.”

James PadillaDr. Padilla is an Associate Professor of Business Law and Sport Management at Tiffin University. He has taught both undergraduate and graduate courses within these programs at the University of St. Francis, Ball State University and Grand Valley State University (GVSU).

Padilla earned his Juris Doctorate from the School of Law of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1996, a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Northern Illinois University in 1992, and an Executive Certificate in Sports Management from Loyola University at Chicago in 2002.

His areas of expertise include sports law, sports insurance, athlete safety, patient & family-centered care/patient & family involvement in root cause analysis/transparency & disclosure.

Dr. Padilla’s sports and law experience primarily lies in the sports insurance field. For over 15 years, he has consulted with professional athletes, collegiate athletes, sports agents, professional teams and financial advisors in assisting them with specialized insurance policies. Dr. Padilla created, owned and operated J&P Insurance Brokerage before merging his company with Braman Insurance (Merrillville, IN).

His most current service is as a Council Member of the Nursing Advisory Council of The Joint Commission, Oakbrook, IL. The Joint Commission is a national healthcare accrediting and certification body. Founded in 1951, The Joint Commission evaluates and accredits more than 20,000 healthcare organizations and programs in the United States. An independent, not-for-profit organization, it is the nation’s oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body in healthcare. To earn and maintain The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™, an organization must undergo an on-site survey by a Joint Commission survey team at least every three years. (Laboratories must be surveyed every two years.) This service is in addition to his current Board Member status with the Nursing Alliance for Quality Care (NAQC), an affiliated organization of the American Nurses Association (ANA).
