BUCYRUS―The cause of a garage fire on the west side of Bucyrus is under investigation.
Bucyrus Firefighters received a page at 9:56 a.m. Friday for a garage fire at 302 W. Mansfield St. Upon arrival, firefighters were able to contain the small blaze to the northwest corner of the structure.
“It looks suspicious. The fire clearly originated on the outside of the garage,” said Captain Chad Schwemley.
The residence houses four apartments and the garage belongs to one of them.
“Another renter actually uses the garage,” said Schwemley.
That person is Rob Terry who has two vehicles in the two-car garage.
“I didn’t know there was a fire until they (firefighters) knocked on my door,” said Terry.
Schwemley said a neighbor called 911.
According to Schwemley, firefighters Barry Herschler and Eric McNutt are arson investigators and are handling the investigation into the cause of the fire. No injuries were reported and damage to the garage was minor.
