UPPER SANDUSKY―The Bucyrus Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious injury crash that occurred at 6:18 a.m. Wednesday on US 23 at the intersection of County Road 113 in Wyandot County.
According to the patrol, the driver of a commercial tractor-trailer, Robert A. Shepard, 71, Nebraska, was traveling southbound on US 23 in the right lane of travel when he made an illegal left turn at County Road 113, striking a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Brian A. Bryant, 52, of Upper Sandusky.
Due to the impact of the crash, Bryant was ejected from the motorcycle and struck by the right rear tires of the trailer of the semi. When troopers arrived at the scene of the crash, Bryant was responsive and was rendered first aid by Upper Sandusky EMS and Wyandot East EMS. Med Flight landed at the scene and transported Bryant to St. Rita’s Medical Center in Toledo for treatment of serious incapacitating injuries.
Shepard was not injured in the crash. Troopers were also assisted at the scene by the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Office and Danner’s Towing.
Troopers are still investigating the crash.
