High school football season is here and the staff members at WQEL, WBCO and Crawford County Now have made their selections for what teams they think will become victorious in week 1.

Local fans also made their voices heard by making their fan vote on WBCO.com.

Week 1 is highlighted by the sixth-oldest documented rivalry in the state as Bucyrus travels to Galion. Dan Messerschmidt and Jared Moore are the only two to think the Redmen will return home on Ohio 19 the winners of the Seccaium Park Trophy.

Tim Birie was joined by the fans in thinking that Buckeye Central can snag their first win, after a winless 2017 campaign, against county rival Crestline.

Josh Stallings was alone as he picked home-field advantage to be enough for Mount Gilead to handle Colonel Crawford, and Will Beard had a similar belief as he was the lone pick for Wynford to beat Liberty-Benton.

Nobody but Jared Moore believed that Van Buren would be able to steal a game at Wentling Field, as Carey hosts the Black Knights.

James Massara and Jared may need to go back and read what is on each of their diplomas as James picked Jared’s alma mater, River Valley, to win and Jared thinks the Rams of James’ alma mater, Upper Sandusky will come out on top. The staff was split 50/50 on this game with the fans breaking the tie.

Will, James and Davey Jones believe Ridgedale will repeat their 2017 victory over Ridgemont, and Will and Jared think Northmor can handle the strong running game of Elgin.

The two unanimous picks were Mohawk and Seneca East, who are thought to be candidates for the N10 crown this season.

In the fan picks, no selection was unanimous, and the pick is made based on the majority of voters.
