The City of Galion Service Department is currently on-scene and working to repair the damage. Harding Way West from the Public Square, west to Union Streets remains closed until further notice. There is no estimate as to when the repairs will be completed.

According to Galion Service Department Supervisor Terry Miller, at approximately 4 p.m., his crews were close to finding the break. He said immediate action will include removing the broken pipe and replacing it. Future repairs also will include removing and replacing damaged pavement on Harding Way West.

Once water service is restored, a boil advisory will be issued for Harding Way from the Public Square to South Boston Street.

City of Galion Communications Director Matt Echelberry said motorists should plan on finding alternate routes for the near future. He added that the Red Cross and EMA were contacted to assist residents in the area without water.
