Wayne Clark, 83, formerly of Bucyrus, passed away late Sunday evening, May 20, 2018, at his home in Lucas after a long, courageous battle with cancer. His devoted wife, Christine, was by his side. He was born Evert Wayne Clark on February 7, 1935, in Bucyrus, Ohio, to the late George B. and Vertie (Bloomfield) Clark.
On June 19, 1983, he married the love of his life, Christine Yahney, and they shared 35 wonderful years together. Wayne was a loving, generous, kind and caring man with a goofy sense of humor and a bit of an ornery streak. He loved those closest to him, was a great husband and was the favorite uncle to his many nieces and nephews. He was the rock of his family and will be greatly missed. Wayne retired after 30 years of service from General Motors where he worked as a millwright and had previously worked for Ohio Locomotive Crane in Bucyrus. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #549. He could fix or construct anything. He was an animal lover and had a special soft spot for his cats.
In addition to his beloved wife, Christine Yahney-Clark, he is survived by a sister, Bernice (Harold) Wise of Dayton; special nieces and nephews, James (Cheryl) Collene, Charlette (Gary) Brown, Michael (Joni) Collene and Patty (Jeff) Thompson, all of Bucyrus; many other special nieces and nephews; a daughter, Michelle Clark of Bucyrus; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Gerald and Merrill Clark; sisters, Elsie Collene and Jean Karr; nephew, PFC Charles “Champ” E. Collene; and son, Derick Clark.
Honoring Wayne’s wishes, there will be no services or visitation. A celebration of his life and committal of his cremated remains will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County, 3025 Park Avenue West, Ontario, OH 44906. The Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors is privileged to serve the family.
