Crestline High School students were recognized during the Senior Awards Night on Thursday, May 17.
Gavin Balliett and Katlyn Stull were selected to receive the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s prestigious Archie Griffin Sportsmanship Award. The award, named for two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin, is presented each year to a male and female student who have been outstanding in their efforts to promote sportsmanship in their school and community. The award sponsored by the Ohio High School Athletic Association is designed to promote sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity.
Award winners Gavin Balliett, a participant in cross country, basketball and track, and Katlyn Stull, a participant in tennis and softball, displayed the characteristics for which this award was designed.
Michaela Jeffrey and Kevin Winkler were selected to receive the National Federation of High School’s Award of Excellence. The NFHS Board of Directors and Citizenship Committee has permitted the Ohio High School Athletic Association to provide Crestline High School with two NFHS National Award of Excellence certificates to be distributed to one male and one female student who has displayed exemplary sportsmanship, ethics, and integrity. This award is presented to two Crestline High School students who have exhibited qualities that embody good citizenship, good moral character, and good sporting behavior.
Award winners Michaela Jeffrey, a participant in volleyball, tennis, swimming and softball, and Kevin Winkler, a participant in basketball and baseball, displayed the characteristics for which this award was designed.
Wesley Patrick and Lydia Tadda have been selected to receive the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s Scholar Athlete Award. The award exemplifies the commitment that the OHSAA has dedicated to academic excellence while participating in interscholastic athletics. Guidelines for this award, as approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors, are:
- Award to one male and one female at each member high school
- Highest scholastic average at the end of the first semester of grade 12
- Recipient must receive a minimum of four varsity “letters” in all sports combined
Award winners Wesley Patrick, a four-year letter winner in cross country and track, and Lydia Tadda, a four-year letter winner in volleyball, basketball, and softball, met the standards for which this award was designed.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association strongly supports good sportsmanship among the youth and adults in our schools and workplaces.
