BUCYRUS — The application process for the royalty pageants for the 2018 Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival are being accepted. The queen and princess applications are available and the junior princess applications are available beginning May 16.
The deadline for princess is June 16 and junior princess is June 13. Queen applications are due June 4.
The 51st Annual Bucyrus Bratwurst Festival is Aug. 16-18.
The applications are available online or at the Bucyrus Public Library and Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce. Queen applications also are available at all qualifying area high schools.
According to the Bratwurst Festival application, “to be eligible to run for junior princess, the candidate’s custodial parents must be a resident of the Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford or Wynford school districts for one year prior to Aug. 1, 2018. She must be between the age of 7 and 8 on or before Aug. 1, 2018. Candidate must have a German costume, which she will wear during the festival and other festival events.”
The same requirements are listed for those applying for festival princess, except for the age requirement being for girls 12-13 years old before Aug. 1, 2018.
The queen contest is open to girls who are current residents of the Buckeye Central, Bucyrus, Colonel Crawford or Wynford school districts.
The pageant will be open to a limited number of girls on a first-come basis.
There is a mandatory get-acquainted tea June 4 at 6 p.m. for queen candidates at the VFW Post 1078 annex building. A get-acquainted tea for princess cadidates is June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Bucyrus Public Library and the tea for junior princess candidates is June 20 at the same location.
