BUCYRUS — Voters across the county will head to the polls on Tuesday for the primary election.
Ruth Leuthold, director of the Crawford County Board of Elections, said that she estimates that only about 18 percent of all registered voters in the county will cast a ballot.
“Some people do not vote in the primary because do not want to declare a party,” said Leuthold.
Issues on the ballot include:
For all voters: State Issue 1 – Creates a bipartisan, public process for drawing congressional districts to end gerrymandering.
Bucyrus Public Library Consortium: A .5 mill levy for five years for proper furnishing, maintenance, operation and rendering of free library services.
Wynford School District: A renewal tax of 6.96 mills for three years for current operating expenses and a renewal levy of 1.82 mills for three years to avoid an operating deficit.
Crestline School District: A 10-mill renewal levy for five years to avoid an operating deficit.
Cranberry Township: For the sale of wine and mixed beverages on Sunday at Mickey Mart.
“There is at least one issue on the ballot in every precinct,” Leuthold said.
Leuthold said the 996 ballots have already been cast during absentee voting (early voting) as of Friday afternoon.
“We are open today (Monday) until 2 p.m. for people to vote in the office,” said Leuthold.
The Crawford County Board of Elections is in the lower level of the Crawford County Courthouse.
