NEWS RELEASE:

On February 20, 2018, members of the Galion Police Department received information of a possible meth lab being operated at 220 ½ W. Atwood St.  The investigation began with a disturbance call shortly after 4:00 am on February 20th.

Officers and detectives were able to obtain a search warrant based upon the investigation. The Crawford County Special Response Team was activated for the search warrant entry. Assistance was received from the METRICH Drug Task Force for the purpose of possible hazardous material evidence collection and preservation on this case.

Joey Horton, 45, of 220 1/2 W. Atwood St., Galion; charged with permitting drug abuse and possession of drugs.
Michael Shaw, 36, of 220 1/2 W. Atwood St., Galion; charged with permitting drug abuse and possession of drugs.

Upon conducting the search warrant, officers seized numerous articles of drug paraphernalia and evidence of possible manufacturing of methamphetamine. There was no evidence of a large scale drug manufacturing operation at the residence.

The two adult residents were arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of Permitting Drug Abuse and Possession of Drugs. The case remains under investigation and will be presented to the Crawford County Prosecutor for filing of formal charges and any additional applicable charges.
