Donald E. Kindinger, 84, of Crestline, died Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Crestline Nursing Center, Crestline after a long illness.

Don was born in Crestline on September 11, 1933 to the late Arvine and Wilhelmina “Billie” (Reiger) Kindinger.  He married his High School sweetheart Jane A. Obermiller on May 28, 1955 and she survives him.

A 1951 Crestline High School graduate, Don went on to college at The Ohio State University where he received a B.S. in accounting. Don retired after 30 years as an accountant with Fisher Body Division of GM. Having a wonderful sense of humor, Don would joke, “old accountants never die, they just lose their balance”. A lifetime member of Calvary United Church of Christ, Don was very active in his church including serving as Deacon, Elder, President of Consistory and chairman of the pipe organ committee. He taught computers at Ashland College and helped numerous small businesses with their bookkeeping. Don was a founding member of the Crest Investors. A lifelong resident of Crestline, Don was involved in the community, including being active with C.A.M.P. Don was a fan of The Ohio State Buckeye’s, holding season tickets and attending two Rose Bowls.  Don and Jane enjoyed traveling and going on numerous cruises.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, James (Deborah) Kindinger of Wichita Falls, TX, and Michael (Sarah) Kindinger of Ft. Wayne, IN, the daughter Don never had, Karen Kindinger of Crestline; grandchildren, Adam (Angela) Kindinger, Whitney (Eric) Gattis, and Denise Platt; and great-grandchildren, Harley and Scarlet Kindinger, Dawson Gattis, and Blake Platt.

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Kindinger and his brother, Arvine Kindinger.

Friends may call Friday, February 16, 2018 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline.  A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Calvary United Church of Christ, Crestline, with Rev. Gary Proietti officiating.  Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Crestline.
