Donald L. Sipes, 89, of Galion passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017 at Mill Creek Nursing Center in Galion.

Born August 15, 1928 in Galion, he was the son of Boyd T. and Hazel G. (Hall) Sipes. He married Barb (Poast) Sipes on October 26, 1947 and she preceded him on December 10, 2006.

He graduated from Iberia High School in 1946. Don was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church for the last ten years. He previously served as an Elder for the Iberia Presbyterian Church and was a member there for many years along with his wife Barb. Don was also a member of the Morrow County Farm Bureau, Public Employees Union, Seniors on Center in Mt. Gilead and was a North Bloomfield Township Trustee for 28 years. Don was involved in many community service projects and his carpenter skills are still evident in many homes and buildings in the area. He never knew a stranger and never had anything bad to say about anyone-He was everyone’s friend.

He is survived by sons Dr. David L. Sipes of Galion and Daniel B. (Diana) Sipes of Lexington; daughter Debra McCrindle of Harrisburg, North Carolina and son Douglas R. (Kimberly) Sipes of Harrisburg, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Marilyn Sipes and Sylvia Noblet-Rankin.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by daughter Donene Marie Sipes; brothers Ivan Sipes and Clarence Sipes and sisters Ethel Palevich, Mabel Miller and Evelyn Wiseman.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833 where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 4, 2017 with Rev. Terry Burkhart officiating. Burial will follow at Iberia Cemetery.
