The office of Bucyrus attorney Adam Stone recently released a statement regarding the current standing of the City of Bucyrus and Bucyrus Fire Chief Jay Keller.

The press release says termination proceedings against Keller will begin Wednesday, Oct. 11.

In an email, Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser said the hearing is disciplinary, but city administrators have not made a decision on termination of Keller.

The release continues to say Keller is in the process of filing a formal complaint with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission and the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. His complaint alleges the City of Bucyrus discriminated against Keller based on age and disability in retaliation against him.

Reser said the city had no comment on Keller’s complaint.

Keller was placed on probation in July, but Reser would not comment at that time on what caused the probation to be brought on Keller.
