Heidi and Ray Valdez became the new directors of the Bucyrus Salvation Army in July and are reaching out to victims of Monday’s tornado.

Residents in the areas hit by the EF2 tornado such as North Robinson, Leesville, and Crestline are asked to call the Salvation Army for assistance.

“We can help them with emergency shelter, food, clothing, household items, and we have emergency cleaning kits to give to them,” said Heidi Valdez.

Heidi Valdez said that people wanting to donate items specifically for the tornado victims can do so at the Salvation Army office, located at 224 E. Rensselaer St. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 9 a.m. to noon on Fridays.

“If people tell us they are donating items specifically for people affected by the tornado then that is where the items will be go,” said Heidi Valdez.

Heidi Valdez said food, clothing, diapers, household items, and cleaning supplies are some of the types of items that can be donated.

The Crawford County Chapter of the American Red Cross has been on site at several locations since the devastation occurred.
