BUCYRUS — Galion rolled up nearly 400 yards of total offense and the defense pitched a shutout as the Tigers defeated county-rival Bucyrus, 34-0, in winning for the ninth straight time in the series.
The Tigers built a 27-0 halftime lead and coasted to victory to retain the Seccaium Park Trophy. Galion has a 15-7 edge since the trophy’s inception.
Joah Singer opened the scoring with a 3-yard run with 5:31 left in the first quarter. Takoda Crisman grabbed a 42-yard pass from Harrison Ivy to make it 13-0 at the 1:03 mark.
Steve Hoffman returned an interception 31 yards for a score with 4:01 left in the second period and Ivy added a 1-yard run with less than a minute left in the first half to give Galion a four-touchdown bulge at intermission.
The only score of the second half was a 2-yard run by Tanner Crisman with 5:05 remaining in the third quarter.
Tanner Crisman rushed for 103 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown to pace the Tigers. Takoda Crisman caught five passes for 90 yards and a score.
Ivy was eight for 13 for 131 yards and a touchdown. Galion finished with 232 yards on the ground on 36 carries.
Sophomore quarterback Ben Seibert completed 10 of 19 passes for 91 yards. Harley Robinson caught 3 balls for 50 yards and he also rushed 3 times for 43 yards. The Redmen were held to 134 yards of total offense.
Plymouth runs past Buckeye Central
NEW WASHINGTON — Kade Collins rushed for 186 and two touchdowns and Seth Bailey added 139 yard and three scores to lead Plymouth to a 34-14 win over Buckeye Central.
The Big Red piled up 420 yards on the ground and attempted just one pass, which was incomplete.
Max Loy completed 11 of 27 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown for Buckeye Central. Wade Ackerman caught five balls for 105 yards. Joe Cole grabbed two passes, one for an 11-yard score in the second quarter.
Avery Baldosser had the Bucks’ other touchdown, a 6-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The Big Red built a 20-6 halftime lead and put the game away with 14 points in the third quarter.
Seneca East drops South Central
GREENWICH — Brock Martin scored three touchdowns while Blaine Swartzmiller and Bo Smith scored once each to help Seneca East to a 35-14 road victory over South Central.
Martin ran for 162 yards on 31 attempts and completed three of five passes for 57 yards. Chase Foos threw for 200 yards, connecting on seven of 10 passes. Swartzmiller caught four passes for 105 yards and Collan Martin grabbed two for 63 yards.
