Phyllis A. Gerber, 88, of Galion passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family Saturday morning, August 12, 2017.

She was born September 6, 1928, in Marion and was the daughter of Ronald C. and Elizabeth E. (Hatfield) Newport. Phyllis leaves her husband of 27 years, Irvin Gerber, whom she married on August 25, 1990. She was previously married to Vincent Chundzinski on February 18, 1955 and he preceded her in death on June 21, 1988.

She was a graduate of Meeker High School.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Tami (Jeff) Lynn of Medina, Gay (Steve) Paroda of Kansas City, Missouri, Bernadine (Roger) James of Westerville, Robin (Greg) Powelson of Mayfield Village, Jennifer Karasz of Medina and Vince (Jamie) Chundzinski of Mausry; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; four step-children Betty (Jon) Logan, Sue Branstetter, Dan and Ron Gerber all of Galion; a sister, Patricia (Glen) Koons of Iberia and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Vincent Chundzinski; and a sister, Nancy Simpson.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4:00 p.m. and 6 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833.  No funeral service will be held.  Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hinkley, Ohio
