Carolyn S. Opperman, 80, of Galion passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Altercare of Bucyrus.
She was born March 5, 1937 in Hemlock, Ohio and was the daughter of Lance and Renetta (Schlingerman) Hodgson. Carolyn married her high school sweetheart, Robert J. Opperman on June 5, 1954 and they enjoyed 58 years of marriage until his passing on July 30, 2012.
She was a 1954 graduate of Shawnee High School. Carolyn was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Galion where she was active with the Ruth Circle. She enjoyed playing cards and going to horse and dogs races. Carolyn was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan, Cleveland Indians fan and loved spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by daughters Debbie Opperman of Ontario and Denise (Shawn) Livingston of Galion; son Dale (Tracie) Opperman of Shelby; grandchildren Nicole (Andy) Claus of Galion and Jena Opperman of Shelby; great-grandchildren Katelynn and Nolan Claus and sister-in-law Agnes Hodgson of Columbus.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a sister Imogene North; a brother Charles Hodgson and a sister-in-law Jo Marcum.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Christ United Methodist Church, 130 East Walnut Street Galion, Ohio 44833 with Rev. Matthew Weaver officiating.
