Sydney Studer threw a no-hitter while the Lady Eagles notched 13 runs for Colonel Crawford Coach Chuck Huggins 601st career coaching victory Monday night. It wasn’t quite a perfect game for Studer as the Bucyrus Lady Redmen did reach base twice on walks.
Studer, who fanned six Lady Redmen, had three hits and an RBI as the Lady Eagles won 13-0.
The Lady Eagles big inning came in the fourth as they scored five runs on six hits to extend their lead from 8-0 to the eventual final score of 13-0.
Leading the way for the Lady Eagles on the offensive side of the ball was Alexus Burkhart who went three-for-three with two RBI’s. Abbi Teglovic brought in another two RBI’s for the Lady Eagles in her lone hit in the first inning.
With the win the Lady Eagles improve to 10-1 on the season and 6-1 in the N10. Colonel Crawford is set to play a make-up game against the Carey Lady Blue Devils from March 31 Tuesday.
Bucyrus falls to 1-8 on the season and 1-4 in the N10. The Bucyrus Lady Redmen will next play Wynford in a make-up game from March 31 against Wynford on Tuesday.
Elsewhere on area softball diamonds Upper Sandusky whittled a three-way tie for the top spot in the N10 standings down to two with an 11-2 win over Upper Sandusky. The Lady Rams and Lady Eagles share first place for the time being.
Ridgedale routed Buckeye Central 11-1, Mohawk defeated Wynford 4-1, New Riegel edged Carey 4-3 in a non-conference contest and in the MOAC River Valley rolled up an 18-1 win over Galion.
On the baseball side Galion and River Valley played quite a tug-of-war on the scoreboard with the Tigers scoring two in the sixth for a 5-3 win in the MOAC. Ridgedale edged Buckeye Central 7-6 in the N10, Bucyrus topped Colonel Crawford 5-3, Mohawk used a four-run sixth and then held off a Wynford rally to claim a 7-6 victory, and Seneca East stayed unbeaten in league play with a 9-3 win over Upper Sandusky.
