Colonel Crawford will literally have to go through the saints to get to the Sweet 16. On Tuesday the Eagles knocked off Norwalk St. Paul in overtime and on Friday they’ll go against Mansfield St. Peter’s with a district championship on the line.
Tuesday’s 57-49 win over the Flyers improved the Eagles’ season record to 18-6. They will play the top-seeded Spartans at 7 p.m. Friday night at Willard.
A late steal-and-score by the Flyers sent the game into overtime. But a basket by Cameron McCreary returned the lead to Colonel Crawford, one it would not relinquish thanks to an excellent performance at the free throw line.
It was a great night offensively for the Eagles with four players recording double figures. They were led by Cam McCreary’s 14 points and six assists. Heath Starkey scored 13 for the Eagles, while Reis Walker tallied 11 on 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. Jordan Fenner had 10.
Colonel Crawford will have presale tickets on sale for the district championship game against St. Peter’s on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until noon. Tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for students. All tickets at the door on Friday evening will be $6.
