Get ready, Bucyrus, because First Friday is returning for a 2017 edition.

The events, which began last year, will take place on June 2, July 7, and Aug. 4. The themes for each Friday are Health and Fitness, Christmas in July, and Honoring Our Hometown Heroes.

Sue Logsdon, who chairs First Friday Bucyrus, was excited to bring the downtown promotion back.

“I feel awesome,” Logsdon said. “I just think last year, being our first year, some people didn’t know what to expect, but everyone was very surprised of the attendance, the variety of vendors and foods that we had. So we’re really looking forward to growing the event for 2017.”

First Friday was created as an effort to reintroduce and promote the downtown area as a place to shop and relax.

There are a few changes to the downtown event this year. The times have been changed to 5 – 8 p.m. and the food court will be located on East Warren Street. The July event, which featured an Art Walk last year, will have a Christmas in July theme instead.

The Young Professionals will be chairing the Health and Fitness theme in June.

First Friday Bucyrus is seeking a chairperson or group to oversee the kids’ activities and is open to ideas for games or activities for kids. A chair or co-chair is also needed for the July event.

Volunteers are always welcome. Information about the planning meetings can be found on the First Friday Bucyrus Facebook page. Those interested can also contact Tyler Jacobs at the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce.
