Press release
Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser made a special proclamation for John Mikusa, who turned 100 on Sunday.
Mikusa was born in Canton on Feb. 5, 1917 and moved to Bucyrus at the age of 19 to begin working at the Timken Company. His young family followed two years later in 1956. Mikusa retired from Timken after 40 years.
Mikusa and his wife Margaret raised seven children. Margaret died in 1969 and Mikusa married Barb Batton in 1976.
According to Reser, “John’s legacy continues through four generations in this 19 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.”
Mikusa, who loves to play golf, is a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus, and a member of the Elks and Moose lodges.
Reser proclaimed Feb. 5, 2017 as John Mikusa Day.
