Moving up, up, and away from its former location, MB Subculture is looking to reutilize the former Capital 5 Cinema on the south side of town.

While there is still plenty of remodeling to do to the former theater, the comic book shop will rise like a phoenix from the ashes starting today at 1715 Marion Rd. Currently, the lobby of the former theater will act as the MB Subculture comic book store; however, MB Subculture owner Betsy Gerhart noted that plans are in place to get at least two movie theaters running and showing films once again.

“I have been saying it since it was closed, that the cinemas need to be opened back up. We figured we might as well try,” Gerhart explained. “We got to do something out here to help the town out. There has got to be something out here for everybody to come to. Movie theaters, we want to do like we was doing, we need to do something; more entertainment for this town.”

Gerhart noted that one of the auditoriums is planned to be utilized for productions of the Crawford Theatre Company.

MB Subculture employee Matt Feck noted that the move from the former Sandusky Avenue location to the Marion Road location didn’t take too long.

“Very fast, it happened very swiftly, but we have had a lot of awesome people, customers, friends of the theatre, that were able to make it happen,” Feck explained.

With a new store location comes new store hours. MB Subculture’s new hours at their Marion Road location will be Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sunday from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and closed Mondays.
