Tim Hortons has been buzzing since it opened in Bucyrus a few weeks ago and the owners could not be happier.
The breakfast chain joined the Bucyrus Area Chamber of Commerce and held a ribbon cutting Monday morning. Amid the rain coming down and the coffee cups going out the door, city officials and chamber members joined Tim Hortons owners, management, and employees for the festivities.
Janine Skowron, co-owner of the local Tim Hortons with Don Reninger, was excited about having the café and bake shop open.
“It’s awesome,” Skowron said. “That’s kind of one of the reasons we wanted to come out into a smaller town and kind of build the brand, create a community feel. I think it was much needed. It’s been a great response and we’re just excited to be here.”
Barb Spaid, Phyllis Crall, and Dixie Striker were gathered at a table during the ribbon cutting, quite surprised at the unexpected event.
“I love this place,” Spaid said.
She noted that she always stops at the Tim Hortons near her son’s home in Worthington. Spaid said she still enjoyed going to the Pelican Coffee House, but she liked the different atmosphere Tim Hortons offered.
“I’m looking forward to coming here morning after morning,” said chamber director Tyler Jacobs.
RSSUM Holdings, LLC, which owns the Bucyrus Tim Hortons, is also building one in Galion. The company owns 30 Tim Hortons in the Columbus area.
