When two organizations come together, it’s a great thing. It’s even better when the representatives of the organizations can find common ground to help those they are overseeing.
The Knights of Columbus St. Francis Council #1234 donated $1,841.97 to Waycraft Industries Wednesday afternoon. Ron Lowis, who is not only a part of the Knights of Columbus order, but is also president of a non-profit board for developmental disabilities in Morrow County, was on hand to present the check to Waycraft Industries Director Vincent Ponziani.
“Knights of Columbus is put together to help families who are in need and special projects for people in need and obviously developmental disabilities is always in need,” Lowis said.
Lowis said the money was raised through the Knights of Columbus’ program “Measure Up.” The group gathers money during their campaign and disperses it to organizations in need every year.
“This year Waycraft Industries was the organization that we selected,” Lowis said. “We’re happy to do that because, as a member of developmental disabilities, I know the needs and I know what goes on. I’m just happy to do it.”
“It’s very beneficial to us,” Ponziani said. “We’re always in need for funding to help in building maintenance, to help run the programs. At this particular time we also have a few building needs taken care of. This is just perfect. This will help us out and help us be able to continue providing the services for our individuals that we support.”
