A man linked to the slayings of four women in Ohio has been indicted in two of those and the alleged kidnapping of another woman whose 911 call led authorities to the defendant.

Ashland County’s prosecutor said Thursday a grand jury indicted 40-year-old Shawn Grate on 23 counts, including aggravated murder and rape, in the potential death penalty case.

A message was left for Grate’s attorneys.

Grate was arrested last week after a woman reported she was being held in a home. Police found the remains of two other women at the Ashland property, which was supposed to be vacant.

Authorities say Grate led them to a third body in nearby Mansfield in Richland County and confessed he’d killed another woman who was selling magazines about 10 years ago.

Grate also has a legal history in Crawford County where he was once sentenced to a county jail term for domestic violence.
