After posting an 8.9 percent unemployment rate in July, Crawford County dropped down to a 7.8 percent unemployment rate for August. But the news coming from the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services was not all good.
While the report shows 100 more people working in August than in July, it also indicates 100 fewer people are in the labor force and 200 fewer are receiving unemployment. The unemployment rate in Crawford County for August remained unchanged compared to August of 2012.
Rates for other surrounding counties all showed significant improvement as well. Huron County, which posted an 11 percent unemployment rate in July, dropped to 8.6 percent for August. Richland (7.6), Marion (7.4), Seneca (6.8), and Wyandot (6.1), and Morrow (6.4), all realized a drop in their unemployment rates as well.
County by County unemployment estimates are available on the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services website.
