It was time to eat Thursday at Crawford County Fairgrounds for the first-ever “A Taste of Crawford County.” The Crawford County Farm Bureau teamed with The Crawford County Cattleman’s Association, and the Bucyrus and Galion-Crestline Chambers of Commerce for the event at the Youth Building.

Local pork, beef, lamb and dairy producers put on the spread and Janel Hord of Hord Livestock explained why.

“The farming community, we know what we do,” Hord said. “We want to tell our story to those who don’t know what we do.”

What the local farming community does, as was proven at Thursday’s spread, is produce a tremendous amount of good food. There was plenty to sample and enjoy including “smacon,” which is a combination of beef and bacon. It was just various types of meat. The evening showed off lots of locally grown produce as well.

It could all be topped off with a dish of ice cream, homemade of course.
