In the up-and-down world of labor reports, the jobless rate in Crawford County made the slightest move upward in the month of March to 6.8 percent.
That is according to the latest report from the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services that was released on Tuesday.
That follows a drop in the unemployment rate from 7.1 percent in January to 6.7 percent in February. In March of 2015, Crawford County’s unemployment rate was 6.0 percent.
However, there is good news in that the number of those working here last month was 18,100 compared to 17,900 in February. The labor force from February to March also increased by the same number – 19,200 to 19,400.
The number of those considered unemployed remained steady at 1,300.
Among neighboring counties, only Crawford, Richland and Huron counties had unemployment rates above 6.0 with Huron County the highest at 8.4 percent. Wyandot County had the lowest rate at 3.9 percent.
The statewide unemployment rate released last Friday was also up one-tenth to 5.1 percent.
