BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A 62-year-old Bucyrus man was found deceased in a pond on his property on Wednesday following a multi-agency search.
Wayne Russell had been reported missing on September 16, 2026, after friends and family members stated they had been unable to contact him for several days.
The Crawford County Sheriff’s Office received the 911 call at approximately 2:05 p.m. and responded to the residence on Wyandot Road.
Sheriff Kent and his deputies led the search, which included assistance from the Bucyrus Township Fire Department, Dallas Township Fire Department, Bucyrus City Fire Department, the Galion Police Department, and the Crawford County Dog Warden.
Members of the Bucyrus City Fire Department recovered Mr. Russell from the water. He was pronounced dead at the scene by County Coroner Christopher Johnson.
The incident remains under investigation by local authorities, and no further details have been released at this time.
