BUCYRUS OH (Crawford County Now) The Wynford Lady Royals girls golf team featured as the inaugural guests on the premier edition of “Coach’s Corner Extra,” hosted by Josh Stallings.

Head coach Sean Weisenauer and four team members—Caroline Sheldon, Willa Johnson, Maggie Ridge, and Bella Bennett—joined the show ahead of an upcoming Northern 10 Athletic Conference East shootout.

During the segment, the golfers introduced themselves and highlighted their personal career-best scores:

  • Caroline Sheldon: 34
  • Willa Johnson: 41
  • Maggie Ridge: 42
  • Bella Bennett: 47

Ridge shared that her favorite course to play is Sycamore Springs—the site of district competition—citing fond memories of advancing to the state tournament with her team. She also named her 5-wood as the most versatile club in her bag, noting she uses it roughly 40 percent of the time off the deck and on approach shots due to its combination of distance and accuracy.

Sheldon credited her father for introducing her to golf around age 10 before joining Wynford’s middle school team at age 12. She named Jordan Spieth as her favorite professional golfer and called her grandfather her favorite playing partner.

Looking toward the back half of the season and upcoming postseason tournaments, Weisenauer expressed confidence in his team’s momentum.

“One thing I’m looking forward to is just seeing them finally put together a solid score,” Weisenauer said. “We have really played fantastic as a team, but in practice, we’re scoring pretty well… [I want to see them] compete with the better teams in the league.”

Weisenauer emphasized that maintaining composure and a positive mindset is the critical difference between coaching during practice and managing a live match.

“Composure is like the biggest thing in a match,” Weisenauer said. “Whereas practice you can take the extra time and work on different shots… match time comes, it’s just keeping them all composed and keeping them positive.”
