MANSFIELD, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—A late-night motorcycle crash in Madison Township claimed the life of a Mansfield man Tuesday, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the crash on South Trimble Road near West Cook Road at approximately 11:27 p.m. Aug. 25.
According to the patrol’s preliminary investigation, Wesley Perdue, 27, of Mansfield, was riding a 2009 Harley-Davidson Ultra Classic south on South Trimble Road when the motorcycle traveled off the right side of the roadway while negotiating a curve.
The motorcycle struck a sign, and Perdue was pronounced dead at the scene.
The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation. The patrol has not released additional information about what may have contributed to the crash.
Several local agencies assisted emergency and investigative personnel at the scene, including the Mansfield Police Department, Richland County Sheriff’s Office, Mansfield Fire Department, Madison Fire Department, Mansfield Street Department, Morrow County Sheriff’s Office and Ronk’s Towing.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the fatal crash.
