Each 4H meeting is called to order with the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4H
Pledge. The 4H Pledge that guides every 4Her and Cloverbud is recited as follows…
“I Pledge My Head to Clearer Thinking…
My Heart to Greater Loyalty…
My Hands to Larger Service…
My Health to Better Living…
For My Club, My Community, My Country, and My World.”
Members volunteer to lead the two pledges then we have rollcall. Rollcall is done with a question like; what color is your horse, name a piece of tack, or what is your horse’s name.
Next, the secretary Emma Studer will read the minutes of the previous meeting and the treasurer Carly Fogle reads her report and the balance then the vice president Sydney Long gives any reports from Horse Council or any other organization.
Once this has been done the president Riley Erwin then continues with unfinished business from the previous meeting. For the past two meetings this involved discussions about fundraisers, community service, guest speakers and clinicians, and filling out paperwork. These topics are discussed and ideas are presented to be voted on. The fundraisers that were voted on for this year were car wash, selling mother’s day flowers, or selling CrossRoads Candles. The candles and flower sales were decided to be this year’s fundraisers.
This year’s community service was decided to be volunteer work at the Wyandot County Humane Society Horse Rescue and a gift/supply donation to the Raemelton Therapeutic Equestrian Center.
After discussing and finalizing the old business, we start talking about new business. This includes any upcoming events or due dates. During these meetings we discussed that the Horse Council chose the theme of fair to be ‘Lasso the Fun and Grab the Bull by the Horns at the Crawford County Fair’ for the week of July 17 to 23.
Horse Council is also planning a possible local horse show for the month of June at the Crawford County Fairgrounds, the club will have humane agent Victoria Carmean to speak on March 13 to the club, we also appointed a new recreation officer Maria Harstine, and more will be discussed in future meetings.
After all this, the meeting will be dismissed and we will have demonstrations. Each member must give a demonstration to the club in order to go to fair and show their horse. At the past two meetings we had demonstrations from Riley Erwin about Swirlology, Sydney Long about Trailering Your Horse, Emma Studer about Show Etiquette, Sara Misura about Aging a Horse Using Their Teeth, and Hannah Crabtree about OTTB(OfftheTrack
Thoroughbreds).
Then there are snacks for everyone and we head out for the day.
