BUCYRUS, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW)—In a surprising turn of events, Bucyrus City Councilman At-Large Robert Taylor has announced his resignation effective immediately .

Taylor made his announcement during Tuesday council meeting, stepping up to the podium as a private citizen to share his decision with the community.

Expressing regret and disappointment, Taylor stated, “I have a newfound respect for elected officials, especially when you have to deal with these a–holes that live in this community.” He specifically called out local bloggers who he believes misrepresent themselves as legitimate news outlets, particularly criticizing the group “Citizens For A More Transparent Bucyrus” for their perceived agenda against the community.

Taylor emphasized the emotional toll of responding to threats from these so-called news organizations, asserting, “I do not have the capacity to not respond to threats made by these entities.”

He declared his commitment to protect the well-being of his family, stating, “My obligation to protect the physical and emotional health of my girls—my daughter and grandchildren—far exceeds my obligation to the citizens of Bucyrus.”

Throughout his tenure, Taylor acknowledged the support he received from Kali Lewis in understanding city finances. He also highlighted the ongoing political strife and character attacks faced by other elected officials, referencing unfounded accusations of inappropriate relationships within the city government.

Having served just under six months in office, Taylor concluded his remarks by encouraging citizens to keep being vocal. He wished blessings upon the city before departing from the council chambers.

The Republican Central Committee will now be responsible for appointing a replacement to complete Taylor’s term.
