HURON COUNTY, OH (CRAWFORD COUNTY NOW))—An 81-year-old Willard woman was killed Sunday afternoon in a four-vehicle crash on State Route 61 in the Village of Plymouth, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 1:30 P.M. on State Route 61 near mile marker one in Huron County. 

According to a preliminary investigation, road work on the east side of State Route 61 required a flagger to control traffic at the time of the crash.

According to OSHP, a pickup truck, driven by a 55-year-old man, was stopped in the northbound lane. A SUV was stopped directly behind the pick-up truck, and the vehicle driven by 81-year-old Ruth

Pridemore, of Willard, was slowing down as she approached the two stopped vehicles when a Ford F-150, operated by a 50-year-old man from Crestline, rear-ended the Hyundai Tucson driven by the 81-year-old, causing a chain-reaction collision. The Tucson hit the SUV, which then struck the pick-up truck.

Pridemore was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other drivers had minor injuries but weren’t taken to the hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
