With the Christmas holiday less than a day away and New Year’s one week from now, that means it’s time for an adjustment in the garbage pick-up schedule.

The City of Bucyrus announced that garbage collection for Friday will be picked up on Monday. It will also be delayed for New Year’s Day next Friday as the schedule moves the collection to the following Monday.

The City asks that you place your garbage out at the curb by 7 a.m. on Dec. 28 and Jan. 4 as they will be running double routes.

Extra paper and cardboard will also be picked up on scheduled garbage days through Jan. 8 at no additional charge. The city will pick up live Christmas trees at the curb through Jan. 15 or they can be taken to the compost site until Jan. 8. Trees are not to be placed in bags and all decorations, lights, and tree stands are to be removed.

On Christmas Eve, City Hall Offices/City Service Departments will be closing at 1 p.m. for all non-emergency personnel. In addition, all other non-emergency City Hall Offices/City Service Departments will be closed on Dec. 25 to observe the holidays with families.

On New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, City Hall Offices/City Service Departments will be closing at 3 p.m. for all non-emergency personnel. Also, all other non-emergency City Hall Offices/City Service Departments will be closed on Jan. 1 to observe the holidays with families.

Police Department, Fire Department, Water Treatment Plant, and Waste Water Treatment Plant Personnel will be on duty the above dates providing safety for our city.

S&R Refuse. Inc. will be running one day late the week following Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Friday pick-ups will be on Saturday. All other days will remain the same. Any questions, please call 419-562-3588.

Rumpke’s residential waste and recycling collection will be delayed due to Christmas and New Year’s Day.

Rumpke service will not be affected on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the week of Christmas. Service will not occur on Christmas Day, Friday, Dec. 25, and collection will be delayed one day the rest of the week. Friday’s collection will move to Saturday.
